Great Newsome Brewery
Great Newsome Brewery
We are a family run craft brewery based on our family farm in rural East Yorkshire producing a range of multi-award winning beers.
Our Story
Great Newsome Brewery was established in 2007 on the Hodgson family farm in East Yorkshire. It was established as a business to utilise some old farm buildings and follow the family's passion for great beer.
The brewery produces a range of multi-award winning modern interpretations of classic British beer styles using Yorkshire water, home grown malt, whole hops and our distinctive yeast.
The brewery focuses on great tasting classic British beer styles using local phrases, words and dialect in the naming of its beers such as Sleck Dust and Frothingham Best. It has an extensive range of bottled beers with various styles from blonde beer to best bitter, stout to hoppy lager. A number of the beers are award winning including a number of international beer awards. In 2013 Frothingham Best won the "The World's best bitter up to 5%" in the World Beer Awards. It went on to be featured on BBC Radio 2 and in the national press. It won this same award in 2020. The link between the farm and the brewery is important to the family with malting barley grown on the farm and turned into malt up the road at the local maltings. It comes as no surprise that the Hodgson family won family farm of the year in the 2020 British Farming Awards.
